Stuart Rich, Auburn dentist

Dr. Stuart Rich

Welcome, and thank you for choosing my team and I to care for your dental health!  We are out to change the way many people feel about going to the dentist by providing exceptional dental care in an exceptionally caring environment…each and every time.  For us to achieve that goal means that we need to spend a little time giving you a few insights as to who we are and what we are about.  Thank you again for placing your trust in me and my team.

I decided in high school that I wanted to be a dentist, since it combined my natural aptitude for working with my hands and my innate interest in helping others.  I count the Renaissance master artist, Michelangelo as one of my personal heroes.  He is quoted at the age of 80 as having said “Ancoro imparo”, which means “I am still learning.“ I too want to keep that mindset in all areas throughout my life.  I am consistently looking for creative ways to do things, whether it is to help my patients, improve our office comfort, finding an innovative solution or inventing a new way to do something.

Exceptional dentistry demands excellent hand-eye coordination and precision.  By both training and aptitude, I have an artist’s eye for detail and proportion, and am able to utilize that gift to achieve beautifully natural and functional smiles.  I never tire of seeing a patient hold up the mirror for the first time after we have completed a cosmetic procedure. When their eyes light up and their smile broadens, I know I have succeeded in making a positive impact on their self confidence and outlook on life.  That always makes my day, whether it was a simple filling or a complex smile makeover! Community Service and Recognition

After my volunteer dental service to the Masai tribe of Southern Kenya, I was interviewed for a feature-length article in the Auburn Reporter newspaper.  Subsequently, I was asked by the editor to write an ongoing series of articles on dental health issues, currently published monthly.

I continuously explore service opportunities, both in and out of my practice that will allow me to provide dental care to the underserved.  As an advisory member of a committee planning the startup of a free dental clinic in our community, I hope to expand our ability to serve the disadvantaged.  I was honored in 2010 to receive a Citizen of the Quarter award from the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce for my “contributions of time, talent and resources for the betterment of the Auburn community.

As a member of the Auburn Rotary Club, I have the opportunity to help support a number of local charities, both in our community and internationally. I have served in the past as an administrative board member, the International Service Committee chairman, and as the Public Relations representative.  Most recently I have been serving as the club President for the 2010-2011 club year.

Outside the Office

I was born on the small island of Molokai, Hawaii, and now make my home just south of Auburn, near Lake Tapps.  I have been married for over 22 years to my wonderful wife and friend, Kirstin, and thoroughly enjoy being the dad of our two amazing teenage sons.  We have a neurotic but lovable mutt named Bessie.

I soak up the quiet and inspiration of my backyard art studio whenever I can, and enjoy drawing, reading, watercolors, writing, graphic design and photography. Most of the photographs displayed in the office are a result of my time at home in Washington or abroad with a camera in hand. The creativity and sensitivity to the nuances of color, proportion, and shape required in photography serve me well, both in dentistry and in my other artistic endeavors.

Our family enjoys spending time together in various ways. We are active in our local church congregation and also enjoy travel to places where we can expand our knowledge and understanding of different cultures. When I can combine my love of travel with my professional abilities to ease dental suffering, that is even better. Our family will be planning more trips like our Masai adventure in the future. Stay tuned!
